Education Programs for Empowerment

APV runs four key educational initiatives in Kakuma Camp, providing essential skills and development opportunities for vulnerable community members.

APV Tailoring Class

1. Tailoring Class

Our tailoring program offers vocational skills training to women and youth, enabling them to produce marketable clothing and textiles. This initiative focuses on income generation and establishing small businesses, fostering economic independence within the camp community.

Participants gain proficiency in machine operation, fabric selection, and business management basics.

2. Music Class

The music class provides therapeutic and creative outlets for refugees. Participants learn instruments, vocal training, and songwriting, which promotes psychological well-being and helps preserve cultural heritage. Performances also foster community cohesion.

This program is essential for providing structure and positive expression to young minds facing displacement.

3. Health Education

We conduct critical health education sessions focused on hygiene, reproductive health, and disease prevention (including malaria and cholera). These workshops empower the community with the knowledge needed to maintain better public and personal health standards in the camp environment.

Knowledge is a powerful tool for survival and dignity in challenging conditions.

4. ECD (Early Childhood Development)

Our ECD program focuses on nurturing the cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional development of children aged 3–5. By providing a safe and stimulating learning environment, we prepare them for formal schooling and mitigate the developmental risks associated with crisis environments.

Laying a strong foundation ensures brighter futures for the next generation of Kakuma residents.
